Growing up, I already had a strong passion for nature, while not even knowing it. I loved scavenging for agates along Lake Superior, birding right outside my parents kitchen, and taking the most challenging hike at any place I went to. Even after 20+ years, this is all still true today! I grew up on the other side of the Mississippi, but Wisconsin was calling me over. I attended UW-Stevens Point and earned my B.S. in Environmental Education and Interpretation. After graduation, I worked various Naturalist positions around the Midwest, including Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park under the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center, and now at Beaver Creek Reserve in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. One of the coolest things about my job is running a seasonal native Wisconsin butterfly house. I never would have thought that part of my job would be catching butterflies and educating the public about the importance of these small insects!
When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling along the North Shore, camping, kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing, pretty much anything outdoor related I want to try. I’m also an avid knitter!
I am thrilled to be a WAEE board member, and excited to see where it takes me!
