Wa’tkwanuhuelatu swakweku! Sending you all my greetings, love and gratitude!
I currently work in my hometown of Milwaukee as an outdoor educator at the Urban Ecology Center. My career in education began in 2009 while working with the Chicago American Indian community helping to run afterschool and summer programs designed by and for Native youth and families. I also worked for several years as the Oneida language and culture teacher at the Indian Community School, which was founded over 50 years ago in MKE. Throughout these experiences, I’ve been curating my educator practice, and deepening my teaching, ecological, and cultural knowledge/skill sets to help facilitate hands-on, meaningful outdoor experiences drawing attention to the complex relationships across the natural world. I have a bachelor’s degree in French language from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a master’s degree in Cultural Foundations of Education and Community Engagement from UW-Milwaukee.
In my personal life, I live with my spouse and two cats in our cozy suburban home with a garden. I love outdoor adventures like hiking, backpacking and camping, and foraging for plant medicines and mushrooms. Other activities that bring me joy are dancing, yoga, providing and receiving massage therapy, language learning, travel, cooking, and visiting with loved ones.
