Sam is a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point earning his Masters in Natural resources with an emphasis in Environmental Education and Interpretation. As a part of his graduate studies he leads a summer camp through the Central Wisconsin Environmental station, and currently mentors senior year environmental education undergraduate students through a teaching assistantship. Before graduate school Sam worked as a middle and high school science teacher in both public and charter schools. While Working as a classroom teacher, Sam taught environmental education topics related to Manoomin (northern wild rice) and proposed copper sulfide mining near the Boundary Waters Canoe area. Sam's graduate research examines the environmental value orientations of Pre-service teachers in the state of Wisconsin and their attitudes and dispositions towards the implementation of pro-environmental action in their future classrooms.
